Frequently Asked Questions

Here are questions many people have about chiropractic care. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

What is chiropractic?

This type of healing focuses on how all parts of your body are connected by the nervous system. The nervous system is found in your head and spine, so taking care of your spine is really important for your whole body. Good posture and movement help keep your spine healthy, which helps you feel good and stay balanced since everything works together from that central part.

What do Chiropractors do?

Chiropractors gently use their hands and specialized tools to adjust joints in your spine, jaw, ribs, arms, and legs. This helps realign your spine with the central nervous system, relieving pain and promoting comfort while supporting your overall health.

What is an adjustment?

Chiropractic adjustments realign the spine and all joints in the body, including the ribs, TMJ, cranial bones, arms, legs, and feet. We utilize Gonstead and Diversified manual techniques, along with low-force instruments, SOT blocks, and drop pieces to realign the spine, pelvis, and other specified joints. Our goals include correcting spinal curvatures, much like the objectives of the Chiropractic Biophysics technique.

Does chiropractic hurt?

It's important to clear up a common misunderstanding: chiropractic adjustments should feel quite comfortable! The adjustment is directed exactly where your joint needs to go, and many people notice how "right" it feels afterward. You might hear an audible "pop" or "click" during the realignment, but that’s normal—it’s just a release of gases at the joint, not bones grinding or cracking. Chiropractors focus on realigning the skeletal structure, and we assure you, we don’t crack bones! Your comfort and understanding are our priorities.

What is a subluxation?

Subluxation is a fancy word that means something is out of place. This can happen in your spine, pelvis, arms, legs, ribs, and even the bones in your head. When something is out of place, it just means you need an adjustment to fix it! If a bone in your back is misaligned, it can cause swelling, put pressure on nearby nerves, and make scar tissue form around the joint. But don't worry—chiropractors can help adjust it back into the right position.

How does chiropractic benefit my health?

Everyone can benefit from chiropractic care, whether you’re a baby, a child, a pregnant person, an athlete, an adult, or a senior. We all have spines and nervous systems! There are 26 bones, called vertebrae, in our spine, and each one has 6 joints. With so many parts, it’s easy for something to get out of place, which can affect how our nervous system and body work.

What is chiropractic good for?

Chiropractic care helps everyone! It realigns the core of your body—the skeleton and nervous system—so that everything works properly and you can heal. Many studies show that chiropractic adjustments are one of the best and most affordable ways to help with spinal injuries. This includes problems from car accidents, falls, slipped discs, healed fractures, scoliosis, and even "tech neck" from too much screen time. Chiropractic can often help fix these issues and make you feel better

What are the risks?

Chiropractic care can be really helpful, but like all types of healthcare, it can come with some risks. These risks are very low, but sometimes people might experience things like soreness, sprains, or even irritation of a disc. It’s normal to feel a little sore for a day after an adjustment as your spine and muscles adjust to the new position.

Some people mistakenly think that chiropractic care can cause strokes, but many research studies show that this isn’t true. Before starting treatment, the doctor will check to make sure chiropractic care is safe for you. If you have any health conditions that the doctor might not know about, it’s important to tell them. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities.

How long does it take for chiropractic to work?

Chiropractic care often shows results right away! This is especially true for babies and children. After an adjustment, most people notice that their bodies feel less tense, less irritated, and they have more strength and flexibility. Overall, they just feel better.

Are Chiropractors real doctors?

Yes! We are Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs). Dr.Patrick Sage Dr. Serena Wong and Dr. Jeffrey Fiorino all graduated from Life Chiropractic College West, a 4-year doctorate program in chiropractic healing arts and science.

How does the spine relate to my overall health?

The spine, or vertebral column, is the center of your body and houses the spinal cord, which connects to the brain. Think of the spinal cord as a super-fast highway that sends signals between your brain and the rest of your body. Keeping your spine healthy is important because it helps your brain and all your organs work well—it's all connected! Your brain controls everything from how your stomach works to your immune system and balance. Chiropractic adjustments not only help with pain but also support your organs in healing and functioning better.

Are you a massage therapist? Can I have a massage?

We have someone in house to provide this care if necessary .

How long will I have to see a chiropractor?

Chiropractic adjustments are great for keeping your joints flexible and in the right place, so they can work their best. Just like a single trip to the gym won't keep you fit forever, regular chiropractic care is essential too! Each person receives a personalized treatment plan designed to help them move from feeling unwell to feeling fantastic. Once you realize how vital spinal health is for your overall well-being, you'll want to keep caring for it!

Just like you visit the dentist and eye doctor regularly, it's important to look after your spine the same way! Your spine protects your central nervous system and brain, which is super important. We're here to help you live a happy and healthy life

Do you adjust children? How?

Absolutely! Anyone with a spine and nervous system can benefit from chiropractic care. Some parents even have their babies' spines checked right after they're born to give them the best start in life. Because babies and kids are still growing, it takes just a little bit of gentle pressure to help keep their bones straight. Keeping their spines straight is really important as they grow!

We use our fingers or soft tools to do this. The pressure is so light, it’s like making a tiny dent in the couch with just the tip of your finger

Is chiropractic safe for pregnant women?

Pregnant women can really benefit from having their pelvis and lower back aligned as their bodies change and their baby grows. Since all the internal organs and ligaments are connected to the skeleton, a balanced pelvis helps these parts stay relaxed and in a good position—supporting both mom and baby! Many of our pregnant patients share that they experience smoother, safer, and more comfortable deliveries as a result.

Is chiropractic safe for the elderly or people with osteoporosis?

Absolutely! We use a variety of gentle and low-force techniques, especially for individuals with osteoporosis or other bone-related conditions. Our approach includes high-amplitude, low-force tools, SOT blocks, and drop pieces to ensure a safe and effective experience for everyone. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities
